And the rumors of war re-start.
This morning, I’m getting up to speed on the Russia-Ukraine situation.
My purpose here is to remind readers of what went on with respect to Ukraine and the Bidens when Donald Trump was president. Remember: Ukraine was an integral part of Former President Trump’s first impeachment.
In 2018, I posted the following at DaTechGuy blog. Because of a catastrophic failure of Peter’s old domain, most people cannot access his former site. But I can.
[W]hen a so-called whistle-blower initiated the uproar about President Trump’s telephone conversation with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, it seemed to be a signal to Democrats that it was time to begin the impeachment process that most of them have longed for since Election Day in 2016.
President Trump declassified and released the transcript of the conversation, which refuted characterizations or “parodies” of it from major Democratic Party players like Rep. Adam Schiff. Nonetheless, the hue and cry of “Impeach the Motherfucker” – to paraphrase Rep. Rashida Tlaib – was heard throughout the land. Why? Because surely it is illegal for a sitting POTUS to ask a foreign head of state to investigate and see if a crime has been committed in the latter’s country. Right?
The outrage got even more shrill when it was presumed that President Trump asked the same thing of Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison: to help investigate the origins of the Russia hoax. (The presumption was in error. It turns out that the Australians reached out to us first on the matter.)
A day or so after this whirlwind started, one of my friends shared a link which pointed to the fact that the United States has a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) with Ukraine and, a few seconds later, I discovered that we also have one with Australia – naturally, since Australia is part of the Five Eyes Intelligence Alliance — and with many other countries.
Of course, I shared this information with my 6000+ followers on Twitter and my 3000+ followers on Facebook. It took a while for other Trump supporters with larger followings to pick up on it, but some did.
I even shared the information with Hillary Clinton, for what it’s worth.
@HillaryClinton 1. “To the Senate of the United States: With a view to receiving the advice and consent of the Senate to ratification, I transmit herewith the Treaty Between the United States of America and Ukraine on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters with Annex, signed ...It’s fun to troll and to be telling the truth at the same time.
The fact that it was her husband who signed the Ukraine MLAT into law back in 1998 was a bonus that I didn’t hesitate to point out to her.
By the way, other than my friend, I saw no other commentator point out the existence of these treaties before I did.
Just wanted to point that out.
Here’s what I’m doing now: reading John Solomon’s Ukraine papers on Scribd. I think it’s very important for each of us – every interested voter – to see what type of beast we are dealing with. And it’s an extremely rough beast. I’ve been saying some variation of the following of late.
2. My opinion: nearly every government program involving millions to billions of dollars is intended, ultimately, to line the pockets of politicians, especially those in the US Senate and in the House of Representatives aka HoRs.To me, this was instinctive, but, as it turns out, one Glenn Beck seems to have connected all the players in the Ukraine game using his signature blackboard. Well worth your time.
President Trump is poised to spill the gravy.
HECK I FORGOT: Like Hunter Biden, Paul Pelosi, Jr., the son of Speaker Pelosi sits/sat on the board of a Ukrainian energy company. The video is a promo featuring the Speaker herself.
I’m sure that’s just a coincidence.
I will admit to being an advocate of our incursions in Iraq and Afghanistan. That was before I had my eyes opened about wars in general and, in particular, about the black hole of money that the Pentagon is and has always been.
This is also by me at DTGB’s old site. 2019.
While reading the media frenzy on the firing of Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer, I ran across a report on something which I read last year, then promptly put out of my mind because it was too big to fathom, both the fact of it and its implications.
In 2018, the Pentagon conducted an audit; it was the first time Department of Defense had ever done so since its 1947 creation, even though an annual audit for the Department has been legally required since 1990. The audit failed – an insufficient description.
The Pentagon cannot account for $21 trillion. TRILLION. Times 21.
There are certain things the human mind is not meant to do. Our complex brains cannot view the world in infrared, cannot spell words backward during orgasm and cannot really grasp numbers over a few thousand. A few thousand, we can feel and conceptualize. We’ve all been in stadiums with several thousand people. We have an idea of what that looks like (and how sticky the floor gets).
But when we get into the millions, we lose it. It becomes a fog of nonsense. Visualizing it feels like trying to hug a memory. We may know what $1 million can buy (and we may want that thing), but you probably don’t know how tall a stack of a million $1 bills is. You probably don’t know how long it takes a minimum-wage employee to make $1 million.
That’s why trying to understand—truly understand—that the Pentagon spent 21 trillion unaccounted-for dollars between 1998 and 2015 washes over us like your mother telling you that your third cousin you met twice is getting divorced. It seems vaguely upsetting, but you forget about it 15 seconds later because … what else is there to do? (…)
Let’s stop and take a second to conceive how much $21 trillion is (which you can’t because our brains short-circuit, but we’ll try anyway).
The amount of money supposedly in the stock market is $30 trillion.
The GDP of the United States is $18.6 trillion.
Remember: the Pentagon is run by generals, admirals and GS-eleventies and it is they who approve of these monstrous expenditures. It’s impossible to even begin to comprehend the decades of graft that many of them have perpetrated for the benefit of themselves and their associates. But I do think that the antipathy and open insubordination to President Trump is directly related to his general trend of turning off the spigots of tax dollars which go into the pockets of all these public “servants.”
No other president has been willing to ask “hey, where did all this money go?”
That’s why everyone dipping into our pockets – Democrat and Republican, military and civilian — wanted Donald Trump gone even before he arrived. And why they keep trying to make it happen.
I don’t know if the country can recover from this vast rape-and-pillage, but if it can, the first step has already been taken.
The handlers of President Biden (yes, I know) seem to have countless methods on the drawing board of fundamentally transforming the United States. Theft, death and destruction are the end goals, but the handlers are intent on adding “healthy” doses of humiliation into the mix before the death blow(s), akin to a fake vaccine that actually kills you. Leaving Afghanistan in the manner we did was one way, and, we are poised to do the same in Ukraine.
And now …
I’m old enough to remember when we had a president who wanted to keep us out of foreign wars.
Please do me a favor: pray for our troops. If you want to pray for some specific troops, my nephew is a lieutenant in the USAF and my cousin is a captain in the US Army. Thank you.
There have been many reasons over the years that I have been happy to be retired from the USAF/USAFR, but this last year takes the cake.
Thanks for reading!
Perfectly researched and written. And I love that you called out Hillary...
Sure glad I found you! You're insight is enlightening at a minimum & appalling in general.
