Newsom just held a press conference where he announced that the fire was caused by arson and not-so-subtly implicated the pallet storage yard nearby (because obviously it couldn't have been any of the encampment residents). Chalk it up to another atrocity of late stage capitalism, brothers! Those nasty Monopoly men with their evil top hats and canes!
So... maybe. But given this is Gavin Newsom I'm withholding judgement.
I saw that an encampment was on fire but nothing else.
Up in Seattle, across the Puget Sound, a homeless camp was bombed with IEDs. Yes, really. I have not heard any resolution although it appears that everybody saw who did it, a guy with a history of drug deals. So the obvious reason was that he was either targeting a rival, or trying to shut down attempts to stop him.
But with today's media, nothing is ever obvious, let alone exactly as first reported.
I-10's westbound traffic is always bumper-to-bumper on workdays. This disaster will hinder a lot of businesses, large and small - mostly not at the spot of the fire.
Your PT sounds like a lot of cars I've owned or borrowed. Right now, I'm remembering speeding down a side street toward a tall stone wall in a borrowed Mercedes and, just when I needed it, discovering the car suddenly had no brakes. (By risking the manual gear box with drastic downshifts and through the grace of God, I survived that ride undamaged.)
When the PT was released I thought it looked silly, but obviously I was not in the target consumer base so it didn't matter. But what did concern me was that I could never get a valid reason to buy one from its advocates. It's cool! Yeah, but why is it worth getting? Good mileage? Safety? Handling? Carrying capacity? Comfort?
It's cool! Really really cool! Look how cool it is! Isn't it cool?
Hmmm. And so I concluded that the PT was the Apple Macintosh of cars. It's cool! And so am I because I own one! Cool, huh?
The phrase God works in mysterious ways is definitely true. Unexpected gifts in the midst of troubles is definitely one of His ways. Enjoy the new (er) car and do God's work with it.
If only they'd had the Asian summit in LA. The homeless camp fire my have been averted.
California insanity has trade-offs. ALL of them BAD.

More to be revealed.

Wow!
Sounds like an attempt to shut down a competitor and their sales network.

I've had two. They are really comfortable to drive. Built for women, I suspect.
Plus, they're cool!
