Do you believe in bad luck? I don’t. Do you believe in curses? I do believe in those, but I also know that all curses are lifted in Jesus Christ. So, what the heck is going on in my life and what has been going on for years? I’ll give you a sample of all the shit that’s been falling on my head.
· When I lost my key to my PT cruiser
· When I fell on my face while walking, busted my lip open and loosened my tooth
· When my newer car – a Hyundai Accent - was vandalized; $2000 worth of damage, I only had liability insurance then. That happened in January 2024. I was almost stable financially, but I have been struggling since that point.
· Not long after I got the car repaired, I rear-ended a gentleman. We both stopped and for some reason, I just took my foot off the break and rolled into him. Good thing I bought full coverage insurance by then. But that’s a two-edged sword as you’ll see
· This year - 2025 - my boyfriend broke up with me. Our personalities were simply incompatible.
· A week after that, someone rear-ended my car while it was parked on the street in front of my building and pushed it into another car and up onto the parkway
· A few weeks after that, thieves/vandals broke into the car and stole all my spare change. I would have given it to them had they asked. What they left me with: a sabotaged ignition and door lock; That had to be paid out of pocket because it was under the amount of my deductible. $750.
· Somebody hit the car again. I didn’t even tell you guys about this one. I was in a parking space at a gas station. Next to me a large red SUV was trying to parallel park at the pump. He turned too far and hit me - pretty hard, judging from the damage on his vehicle. When I tried to get his information, he ignored me while his partner pumped gas. And when they backed up to leave, he hit the car behind him! I’m pretty sure these guys were illegal aliens, possible cartel toadies.
· And now I have messed up parallel parking too, but unlike the people who hit me, I reached out to the owner of the vehicle and left her my phone number. When I went to check my insurance and file a claim, I discovered that my insurance has been canceled. The young lady – a neighbor - and I will work it out. $1400 worth of damage.
· Did I mention that I had ten parking tickets? I managed to pay seven of them, but, among all the other expenses, I have run out of money. Of the three tickets that are left, two are on the same day.
· And, in the meantime, it’s been very difficult to pay my rent; especially this month
People have helped me quite a bit and I always feel grifty asking for help so much. This is the deal: I have three things that need to be addressed right now: my rent, my new car insurance, and the young lady whose car I hit.
Here’s my total:
$820 rent
$1400 car accident
$620 for my old insurance
$205 for the new policy
That’s a little over $3000.
The first will go to my landlord, of course. Meanwhile I’m working online away from Substack and to provide more content for Substack.
